On April 28, 2009, Verrill Dana's Timberlands Group held a panel discussion in the firm's Boston office, to present information to nearly 30 area fund managers, venture capitalists, investment managers, trust officers, endowment officers, and others interested in timberlands investments.
Attendees of the event also heard from Bret Vicary from J.W. Sewall Company, the oldest forestry consulting firm in North America. Bret and Verrill Dana attorney, Jeff Selser, focused their presentation on timber valuation and related factors to consider when investing in timberlands, rates of return, due diligence and alternative revenue streams, such as conservation easements, ecosystem services and wind power development.
Timberlands investments have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their relative stability and consistent positive returns, even in these troubled economic times.
